Wireless Power - Tesla Coil

over 1200 patents

Tesla was originally green.

Sooner, smarter, why did he not get credit.

A century ago Tesla knew fossil fuels were wasteful. Renewable energey patent on radiant energy (sun, cosmic rays) Geo thermal 1931 "Our future of power"

Tesla Motors 0-60 in 3.9 seconds with AC induction motor.

1893 Chicago World's Fair powered by his AC power invention. Edison won't allow TEsla to use his patented lightbulbs. He created a heatless bulb and powered the fair.

He's the reason we have A/C in our home's. Edison is the reason why they have A/C in electric chairs .

The Forgotten Genius

Get it Straight

Started the work day in Austin today moved through Blooming Prairie, over to Owatonna/Medford. Stopped in to the big shop over in Owatonna...man why can't they put ALL the hooks in 1 aisle? (HOF it was so easy coming over to your place and getting those Owner hooks. ) They didn't have any Sled Heads either. Looked around, watched the fish, found some of my favorite plastics clearanced to 88 cents . anyway now that I had something to fish with off to the river I went. First cast with a frog style plastic, and fish explodes to the top and crushes the bait... best 88 cents ever! Largie for sure right? Never fought one like this, fighting and reeling, finally get the fish closer to the bank and viola: Northern Pike. Sweet, just as i bend down, fish gets off. (I am fishing a plastic frog with a #4 gamu circle) I am amazed I even held the fish for the 3 minutes or so. about 30 more casts with 1 follow and nuttin. Back to work, (or maybe to store to buy a few more 88centers) Found a bridge, (work can wait) worked through nettles, and weeds taller than I to find the stream. first cast and dang horseflies, swatting at them while the lil frog is sinking, i get back to reeling , and what is this pressure on the line? fish on! this time a real nice smallmouth (16 or so) gets off after 30 seconds or so this happens about 4 more times, so i know I just don't have the right hook for the application I'm fishing. Shoulda left them bigger Owner's in the car no pics from today, but nothing landed. That is one fun little river to fish. canoe landings in a few places...would be worth a float IMO...if anyone wanted to try something new. Sometimes we find the hot bite simply because we have no other options...

Staying the course

Some days it's so hard to stay the course. Everyone I know has a different day off, sometimes it sucks to have an 8-5 Mon-Fri job. When all my buddies are on the water fishing...oh wo as me. Although my distinct advantage is being in outside sales, where I can roam around SE MN calling on businesses, and as long as quota is met, I have extreme flexibility. Some days I wonder "how did I come to this exact point in the vast universe?" Why am I here, right now today...shouldn't I have lived among the settlers? I could have hunted for ginseng when it was everywhere, could have fished the rivers and creeks when Ol' Miss' was vodka clear. Nope a job, mortgage, taxes, grass mowing, kids, car problems, waning bank balances due to expensive fossil fuels. I wish I was a farmer, working my land for myself, teaching the boys how to live from your own 'stead, and having the wife barefoot and prego in the kitchen...wait that part is true. I need a farm with a stream, and a pond. How can I ever stay the course and comlete my objectives?
Mowed the grass last night. Today bought 5 bags of .97 cent plastic baits at Gander got 5 bags free, bought some new hooks 5/0, 1/0 2/0 sleds, 3/0 wide gap reds. I'm going to wait on the big cat gear...I don't think i need to spend the cash on it. Gas went down to $3.79 threw a twen' in.

Midnight oil

Burned the midnight oil tonight, walked the 10 minutes down to our "family river" the boys adapted this saying from the great movie "A River Runs Through It." I truly do love that river. I love the sound of the water coming over the dam, as you get closer the sound intensifies, on this clear quiet night it sounded so loud, was there large amounts of water rolling over tonight? Had the rains form the thursday taken this long to gather force and get to this point? No, you just don't realize the sound during the day when the cars are driving, and kids are playing, and talking ,and all the commotion going on. It's good to slow down and have solitude. The sandbar, created this year after the massive flooding of 2007 and not so bad of 2008. I love that sandbar, the carp love that sandbar. I caught a 24-25" common there on yesterday. Tonight I'm blindly casting into the night with some help from the bridge lights. "What is that?" I wonder aloud. The answer known..crusing carp...reel in and perfect cast to the sandbar, he turns back and swims where i believe the crawler to be, then the telltale sign line going straight out up current, firm but gentle pressure with the small circle hook...and fish on! I have come to love thy carp...the best fighting fish pound for pound around here. What other fish can you find in so close to home that fights like a train, is 20"+ and weighs 5 pounds or more? None, simple.

Better Not

Today is Katie's bday...30 she threw me a dirty 30 party, and I didn't even pick her up a gift yet...I gotta get going, I kknow waht she wants, store isn't open yet. She deserves a party, but has to work 2nite. What am I to do? She is such a better wife than I am a husband.
I better not going fishing today. A party next saturday...she doesn't have to work that's a great idea, couple friends, fire up the grill, ice cold beer she won't drink, beer for the guests. I'm gonna do it. Have a lil party right here at home. Jeppers I need to mow the grass.

The Bridge

"Who wants to go fishing?" What a dumb question...I love it when the boys run towards me "oh me" "I do." I'm going fishin with you dad." "me too!" we go to the bridge this of course after I gave over half the crawlers to Hil's son Landon, seen 'em there too.."fish the bottom" we got carp, and smallies, plus gills already. Sweet I love it here, close, friendly. Any way i got corn. the boys did well. Gavin with a chunky smallie, gills galore, did we get a bullie? I got a 24 Austin says 25. I had an audience, and met Max who lives a few blocks from here. We talked 'eyes, bass and carp. NIce fellow, helped the boys with corn. Gavin backlashed my reel...twice. gall that kid some days.

here ya go

The gorging carp

The bridge...I drive over it twice a day. Tried fishing there with the long rod a few years ago...nothing. Today was different, a good rain shower to mix things up a little. I decide to go under the bridge...I see water movement in a small pool off the main channel...can i get him...no sinker bangs off the bridge support and splashes into the small pool. Move upstream change to a lure, silver #2 with yellow chaser...1 smallmouth. Moving upstream, what's that...looks like ...yep back and fin of a carp moving on the mud flat, aggressive he is, hungry. I sneak back over to the tackle bag, and get the fly rod tie on a crazy fly small circle hook with red pipecleaner...my san juan worm. I have dress pants on, but old shoes. I move upstream on the high road, peek over to the flat...yep still there gorging, how to get to him though? Down the wet weed infested bank I go. Big mud flat..I'm sinking now, how can i get this fly to him, overhanging tree branch, small feeder creek. 3rd cast nope, 4th notta, 5th cast lands behind him....let it sink, sit, sit he moves fast, turns 180 degrees...did he take...the lines moving he's cruising off to the outer edge...he's got the fly, gentle firm pressure...fish on! Not as much of a battle as I had thought..the fish i mean..the mud I'm still sinkin, how can i land him? But he comes in like a log, big fat, and 2 feet long. Does the pic look natural? when did i change from flyfishing to trout exclusivly in $400 waders to chasing down carp in $60 dress pans with rulers and control items?

Boys in the water

I was up at 430 this morning and i didn't hit water until afternoon...must be gettin lazy. anyway hit spvc lots of downed trees across of course the good holes, so the trout have cover and pulling silver spinners, and chart twister tails upstream of these trees and drifted into the cover worked to get them out and hittin' nice day to spend with the boys and catch a few trout

boys in the stream, mud, rocks, water...sometimes I feel like I'm just the big brother, I love to Play with my kids, do what they do, kick the water, throw rocks, be a boy again with my best buddies...ah childhood.

Three of a kind

FUn little pond here.

Because I'm the "coolest dad ever" and must live up to such a reputation, every time I take the kids fishing they want to have a contest to see who catches the most fish. We have turned this into what i call the "Red Bull Challenge." Simple really, whoever catches the most gets a can of Red Bull, Mtn dew has been substitued as well. Any way Logan (5) puts up 3 gills back2back yesterday, and is doing the whole..HAHA I'm gettin Red Bull thing, as Austin (9) is casting as far as possible, and muttering under his breath about how Logan is just lucky & he comes back and evens it up. Dad is at 0. Logan hits, Austin hits, on and on it goes. Finally dad gets on the board with 2 gills, and a LM Bass The tally yesterday was a staggering Austin 14 gills and Logan 13 gills, with Dad at 4 gills and 2 largies. so yep I got outfished by the worm under the float, ah who cares these kids have a blast!

Triple, triple, woo hoo first triple!

Sakatah & Tetonka

Because I'm the "coolest dad ever" and must live up to such a reputation, every time I take the kids fishing they want to have a contest to see who catches the most fish. the wind on Tetonka and Sakatah was Craziness yesterday 2 foot + rollers..found a sheltered bay, found some gills. in addition to wind, there is the Algea bloom, I mean green everywhere.just so you all know... I won't waste the gas or cash driving over that way again. Cannon Lake looked a little better but 2-3 foot rollers didn't allow for closer inspection. Anyway as Tom has alluded to in the past the algea bloom is terrible over that way. I figured either I go east to the Ol' Miss or west to lakes it is 1-1.5 hours from Mantorville either direction so I headed west. never again. any way just so you won't be disappointed like I was after an hour and 15 of: "are we there yet?" "we gotta be gettin closer!" "oh why didn't we go to Lanesboro troutfishing?!" and water with algea so bad I didn't want to fish it.
